Future of Lady Jacket soccer strongly represented in all-district voting

The Cleburne Lady Jackets and Joshua Lady Owls received equal representation in all-district selections for 14-5A girls soccer this season.Get more news about cheap Kids Mini shirt, you can vist futbolucl!

Behind District 14-5A champion Midlothian’s 11 selections and runner-up Red Oak’s nine selections, the third-place Lady Owls and fourth-place Lady Jackets were next in line with eight players to earn all-district accolades.

In its first season under Head Coach Aaron Babcock, Cleburne fielded a young team for most of the season. And that youth is reflected in the Lady Jackets’ all-district representation as seven of their eight selections are underclassmen.

“I am beyond ecstatic for the future of the program here at Cleburne,” Babcock said. “We have an amazing group of underclassmen that really helped us find our success this year. We will return 17 of our 19 players next season, including our entire back line. We have an awesome foundation and the girls are really excited for the future.”

Leading Cleburne’s selections are a pair of freshman superlatives as Allyson Reed was voted offensive newcomer while Samantha Vesely was named defensive newcomer.“Allyson’s selection was well-deserved,” Babcock said. “She was the second leading scorer of the district and she was the leading freshman goal scorer. She played well above her classification and will only get more dangerous as she grows into her role. She is a strong player and understands the game at a high level. Part of her success was her positive attitude during games and training. She always has a smile on her face and truly seems to love to play. That childlike feeling of joy allows her to play with a freedom that goal scorers need to be successful.”
“Samantha’s success, like all defenders, is hard to define on paper,” Babcock said. “Shutouts go to the goalkeeper, even though they are a joint effort, and the forwards get most of the glory in the news. Sam has been a true asset to the success of our team. We played 22 games this season and gave up no more than two goals in any one game. That defensive success comes on the back of Sam’s play on the back line. While our entire back line was incredibly strong this year, Sam led the way and really took control of the defensive side of our team. She, like Allyson, plays well above her classification and will only grow into her role.”

“First off, our district had some very, very solid individual defenders and defensive units,” Joshua Coach Jeff Brooks said. “All the 1-0 games are a testament to that. In a district like that, it’s definitely an honor for Kylie to be voted the defensive player of the year, and it’s definitely earned. Kylie’s intelligence on the field stands out to me: she is an excellent decision-maker from the type of ball she plays out of the back to the recovery angles she takes. She is very good technically and improving all the time. More than that, though, she is just an excellent person and teammate. She is good at soccer, but she is a better person.”
