A CÉU ABERTO (In the Open Sky/A Cielo Aperto) è un omaggio a tutti i cinema distrettuali europei, ormai chiusi, che hanno animato la vita comunitaria, svolgendo un ruolo importante nella diffusione del cinema. È un cortometraggio di finzione poetico che nasce dalle riprese del luogo-spettacolo creato da Raquel Belchior e dal suo team, basato sui ricordi della comunità di Charneca sul Cinema Estrela, uno dei cinema distrettuali della città di Lisbona tra fine anni '60 e primi anni '80, ormai in rovina. L'angelo-personaggio che vi si aggira si chiede (a noi): "Qual è il film della tua vita?" E se potessimo occupare il cinema Estrela, restituendogli l'ultima ripresa, l'ultimo applauso dopo i titoli di coda? E se invece di The End potessimo scrivere A cielo aperto, senza limiti? Con quali parole decoreremmo il film di questa rovina per il futuro?
A CÉU ABERTO (In the Open Sky/A Cielo Aperto) is a tribute to all European district cinemas, now closed, which animated community life, playing an important role in the dissemination of cinema. It is a poetic short fiction film that resulted from the filming of the place-show created by Raquel Belchior and her team, based on the memories of the community of Charneca about the Cinema Estrela, one of the district cinemas in the city of Lisbon between the end of the 60's and early 80's, now in ruins. The angel-character who wanders there asks himself (us): “What is the movie of your life?” What if we could occupy the Estrela cinema, giving it back the last take, the last applause after the credits? What if instead of The End we could write In the Open Sky, without limits? With what words would we decorate the film of this ruin for the future?
